Leisurely Hikes
Duration: 3-4 Hours
Skill Level: Easy. Mostly hiking on flat ground.
Highlights: Stroll among towering Joshua Trees and intriguing boulders. Discover unique rock formations and the rich desert flora. Ideal for photography enthusiasts, with plenty of scenic spots for memorable photos.
Perfect for families, beginners, or those looking to enjoy the scenery without strenuous exertion. These hikes feature gentle trails that wind through giant rock formations, twists and turns through sandy washes, and! Rock arches and caves.
Moderate Hikes
Duration: 4-6 Hours
Skill Level: Moderate. Will be traveling over uneven terrain.
Highlights: Ascend to breathtaking viewpoints that offer expansive vistas of the Wonderland. Encounter hidden canyons and secluded areas away from the crowds. Learn about Joshua Tree National Parks history, geology, flora and fauna.
Designed for those with a bit more experience, these hikes include some elevation changes and require a moderate level of fitness. Expect to navigate through some rocky terrain.
Adventurous Hikes
Duration: 6-8 Hours
Skill Level: Difficult. Scrambling over and under boulders, option of climbing and rappelling.
Highlights: Challenge yourself in the rugged terrain of the Wonderland of Rocks and experience the exhilaration of reaching the summit of giant rock formations. Marvel at panoramic views of the surrounding landscape and distant mountains. Opt for the exciting way down, rappelling! Guided by expert, local and experienced instructors, for a memorable adventure!
For the seasoned hiker, these hikes are more challenging and may involve climbing or scrambling over rocks. Some routes lead to the tops of rock domes, where you can rappel down safely with guidance.
